On April 27, 2007, the IRS released final regulations on the distribution and taxation of Roth 401(k) and Roth 403(b) assets. These regulations adopt, with certain modifications, the proposed regulations that were issued on January 26, 2006. Guidance on the reporting requirements and conforming amendments requirements are also included in these final regulations. In addition, these final regulations amend the existing Roth IRA regulations to reflect the interaction of designated Roth 401(k) and Roth 403(b) assets with Roth IRAs. These final regulations, which were effective April 30, 2007, generally apply to taxable years beginning on or after January 1, 2007.
