Loni Porta is the director of education for Convergent Retirement Plan Solutions, LLC, a specialized training and consulting firm dedicated to helping the nation’s leading financial organizations meet their diverse internal and external retirement plan training needs.

Prior to joining Convergent Retirement Plan Solutions, LLC, Loni held various positions with the industry’s leading retirement service outsource provider. As an Instructional Designer for BISYS Retirement Services, she designed and developed education and instruction in multiple delivery formats. Loni was instrumental in implementing BISYS University, a commercial Web portal using learning management system (LMS) technology for online training registration and deployment of Web-based training and education content. As overall project manager, Loni assisted with initial product analysis, tool selection and finally, tools purchases or licensure. She also oversaw the content development process and was instrumental in the content integration process with the LMS.

During her four-year tenure with Universal Pensions, Inc. (UPI), Loni held training manager and IRA consultant positions. At UPI, Loni facilitated the development of computer-based training, designed attendee and instructor materials and presentations for training, education and workshop events, and provided design assistance for industry conferences. In addition, Loni was an IRA Technical Consultant on UPI’s 1-800 consulting lines, which provided dedicated technical support to over 3,000 financial organizations. Loni addressed client technical questions surrounding Traditional and Roth IRAs, Simplified Employee Pension plans, Savings Incentive Match Plans for Employees of Small Employers (SIMPLE) IRAs and Coverdell Education Savings Accounts topics.

Loni played a key role in the development of the curriculum for each of two of the industry’s IRA-specific certification programs: the Certified IRA Services Professional (CISP) designation awarded by the Institute of Certified Bankers, and BISYS’s Certified IRA Professional (CIP) designation, sponsored by the National Association of Federal Credit Unions.

After attending North Dakota State University, Loni returned to the Brainerd lakes area in Minnesota with her husband and two daughters. Loni enjoys water sports, camping and hiking.
