Ben Norquist is the co-founder and president of Convergent Retirement
Plan Solutions, LLC, a firm dedicated to helping the nation’s leading financial
organizations meet their diverse retirement plan training, compliance and business development needs. Ben also currently serves as the dean of retirement plan studies for the Academy of Financial Services Studies, LLC.

Prior to founding Convergent Retirement Plan Solutions, LLC, Ben held executive-level positions with the industry’s leading retirement service outsource providers. As director of strategic development for BISYS Retirement Services, Ben oversaw the development of several highly successful products designed to help financial organizations attract and retain retirement plan clients (including the Individual(k) retirement plan and Retirement Central™, a comprehensive, web-based retirement planning platform).

During his 13-year tenure with Universal Pensions, Inc. (UPI), Ben held several key executive management positions. At UPI, Ben oversaw the development of many of the firm’s hallmark products and services including its consulting practice and a comprehensive line of web-based retirement planning tools and document generation software. Adept in the technical and compliance aspects of retirement plan law as well as industry dynamics, Ben’s previous responsibilities also included oversight of UPI’s technical research activities as well as oversight of UPI’s 1-800 consulting service, which provided dedicated technical support to over 3,000 financial organizations.

Throughout his career, Ben has been involved in the development of specialized training and career development programs within the retirement services industry. As a founding board member, Ben played a key role in the development of the industry’s first IRA-specific certification program, the certified IRA services professional (CISP) designation awarded by the Institute of Certified Bankers.

Ben has been interviewed by such leading industry publications as the Wall Street Journal, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, Money, Financial Advisor, and Forbes as well as numerous trade journals. In addition, Ben frequently appears as a guest speaker at industry conferences throughout the country.

A graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, Ben currently lives in Brainerd, Minnesota with his wife and three sons, where they all enjoy the outdoor recreational opportunities of Northern Minnesota including camping, maple syruping and fly fishing.
